2026 Panini Obsidian Football Breaks: Case Breaks, Team and College Spots, Hits by Team
2026 Panini Obsidian Football is back with its dark Opti-Chrome design, and Hobby boxes have been out since October 21, 2026. Each box is one pack of seven cards with, on average, two autographs (one a patch autograph) and two memorabilia cards, so a 12-box case break carries at least 48 hits. This year’s set features retired legends and current college stars and isn’t licensed by the pro league, so the cards show no pro team logos. FireHand Cards sells 36 spots: 32 pro franchises plus four college conference groups.

Hobby box
One pack of seven cards. Panini says each box has, on average, one patch autograph, one other autograph, two memorabilia cards, one insert or insert parallel and two base or base parallels.
Case
Twelve boxes, so at least 48 autograph or memorabilia cards. FireHand’s listing puts it as “Minimum Hits: 48 Autograph or Memorabilia Cards + Base, Parallels & Inserts.”
First Off The Line
First Off The Line boxes, sold online from October 13, swap in a FOTL patch autograph numbered to 21 or less and a FOTL parallel. FireHand’s break uses Hobby boxes; FOTL is why some parallels (Deep Sea Mojo, Lava Flow and Neon) carry the FOTL tag.
Base cards and parallels

Who’s in it: retired legends and college stars
The 2026 set mixes retired legends (Barry Sanders, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Emmitt Smith, Bo Jackson) with current college stars (Bryce Underwood, Julian Sayin, Gunner Stockton, Trinidad Chambliss). It isn’t licensed by the pro league, so retired players appear without pro team logos or uniforms, and college players appear with their schools. FireHand still sells a spot for each pro franchise, so you can follow your team’s legends, plus four college conference spots.

How a FireHand PYT break works
In a FireHand Obsidian PYT break, you buy one spot (a pro franchise or a college conference group) and receive every card pulled for that spot when the 12-box case is opened live.
- Pick your franchise or college group and buy the spot. Each of the 36 spots has its own price on the break page.
- The break fills. Pick-your-team breaks load in the store daily between 8 and 9 AM Pacific. You get an email before your break starts.
- It breaks once every spot is sold. FireHand only breaks once every spot is sold. When the last spot sells, the case is opened live on YouTube. Watch on the FireHand Cards YouTube channel or our Live page.
- Your cards ship free. Shipping is free on group breaks. Packages go out every Tuesday and Friday, and international shipping goes out every other Thursday. See shipping.
- See your hits in HEYSTACK. When a break is imaged (many are, not all), hit images show up in HEYSTACK. Create a free HEYSTACK account with the email you use on FireHand Cards.
The 36 spots
- 32 pro franchises, for current and former pro players.
- 4 college conference groups: ALL ACC, ALL BIG TEN, ALL B12/OTHER and ALL SEC, for college players (schools in each group below).
| FireHand spot | Schools on the checklist in this spot |
|---|---|
| ALL ACC | California, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Miami, NC State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, SMU, Stanford, Virginia |
| ALL BIG TEN | Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Rutgers, USC, Washington, Wisconsin |
| ALL B12/OTHER | BYU, Colorado, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech; plus schools outside the Big 12: Hawaii, Montana State, Notre Dame, San Diego State |
| ALL SEC | Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M |
How team ownership works (players without team logos, and special cases)
These are FireHand’s house rules, with what they mean for Obsidian:
- Current and former pro players. Obsidian pictures pro players without team logos, so a current or former pro player’s card goes to the player’s current pro team. A retired player’s card goes to the team he played the most seasons with, so a Charles Woodson card goes to the Raiders and a Tony Gonzalez card to the Chiefs. When a retired player played the same number of seasons with two teams, his card goes to whichever of those two teams he played more regular-season games for: Deion Sanders to the Falcons, Eric Dickerson to the Rams, Doug Flutie to the Chargers and Keyshawn Johnson to the Jets.
- College cards. A college card goes to the conference spot of the school on the card: ALL ACC, ALL BIG TEN, ALL B12/OTHER or ALL SEC. Four case-hit duals pair a retired pro with a college player (Steve Young with Bear Bachmeier, Jim Kelly with Darian Mensah, Joe Montana with CJ Carr, and Eli Manning with Trinidad Chambliss). Each of those goes to a random draw between the pro’s team spot and the school’s conference spot.
- Cards with a former team name. Cards showing a franchise’s old name or city go to that franchise’s current team: Houston Oilers cards go to the Titans, Washington Redskins cards to the Commanders, Oakland and Los Angeles Raiders cards to the Raiders, San Diego Chargers cards to the Chargers, and St. Louis Rams cards to the Rams.
- Cards with more than one team. A random draw among the owners of those spots decides who gets the card. If the card has significant value, the owners decide together: a random draw, sell and split, a buyout, or anything else they agree on. Black Color Blast Dual, Black Stained Glass Dual and Nucleus trio cards can mix franchises, for example Randy Moss with Calvin Johnson.
- Bo Jackson. One card lists him with both the Los Angeles Raiders and the Kansas City Royals. The Raiders are the only pro football team he played for, so it goes to the Raiders.
The High School card. One Orbital Jersey Autograph (Jayden Wade) is listed with “High School,” not a college or a pro team. It goes to a random draw among everyone in the break.
What if my spot gets nothing?
At least 48 hits across 36 spots is more than one per spot on average, but hits aren’t spread evenly, and some spots will miss in a given case. FireHand doesn’t currently offer skunk protection. You still earn Firehand Points on every purchase: every $1 you spend on firehandcards.com earns 1 point, and points come off future orders at checkout.

Panini’s product page has the full product checklist. The table below gives the spot view: autograph, auto-relic, relic and case-hit lines for every franchise and college group. Counts are checklist lines, not odds.

Draw cards (not counted for either spot): four case-hit duals pair a retired pro with a college player. Each goes to a random draw between the owner of the pro’s team spot and the owner of the school’s conference spot: Steve Young and Bear Bachmeier, Black Stained Glass Dual (49ers or ALL B12/OTHER); Jim Kelly and Darian Mensah, Black Stained Glass Dual (Bills or ALL ACC); Joe Montana and CJ Carr, Black Color Blast Dual (49ers or ALL B12/OTHER); Eli Manning and Trinidad Chambliss, Black Color Blast Dual (Giants or ALL SEC).
Why some spots cost more
Each spot has its own price, set by desirability, the number of possible hits and the potential value of those hits. College groups cover many schools and most of the current-player hits, so they carry the most hit lines: ALL SEC has 55 and ALL BIG TEN 53 on the public checklist. In the PYT #1 starting prices ALL SEC is highest at $449, and the Chargers and Jaguars are lowest at $29. Among franchises, the Raiders and Rams lead with 8 hit lines each. A higher price buys more chances, not a guaranteed hit.
Is a break worth it?
A sealed Obsidian box is one pack of seven cards, so most of its value rides on which two autographs and two memorabilia cards you get. A FireHand spot gets you every card for one franchise or college group across all 12 boxes, at least 48 hits in the case. Obsidian suits collectors who want a franchise’s legends or a conference’s college stars on a dark chrome design; if you want current pros in their team uniforms, this isn’t that product.
FAQ
What comes in a 2026 Panini Obsidian Football hobby box?
One pack of seven cards. On average, each box has one patch autograph, one other autograph, two memorabilia cards, one insert and two base cards. Hobby boxes released October 21, 2026.
How many hits are in an Obsidian Football case break?
At least 48. Each box averages two autographs and two memorabilia cards, and a case has 12 boxes.
Is 2026 Panini Obsidian Football licensed by the pro league?
No. The 2026 set features retired legends and current college players without pro team logos or uniforms. FireHand still sells a spot for each pro franchise, plus four college conference spots.
Who gets a college player’s card in an Obsidian break?
The conference spot for his school: ALL ACC, ALL BIG TEN, ALL B12/OTHER or ALL SEC. This applies to college players who aren’t pros yet.
Where do Notre Dame and other schools outside the big conferences go?
ALL B12/OTHER. Any school outside the ACC, Big Ten and SEC, including Notre Dame (independent in football), Hawaii, Montana State and San Diego State, goes to the ALL B12/OTHER spot.
Who gets a high school card in an Obsidian break?
A random draw among everyone in the break. High school cards, such as the Jayden Wade Orbital Jersey Autograph, don’t belong to a college or pro team.
Which team gets a retired player’s card?
The team he played the most seasons with. A current or former pro player’s card goes to the player’s current pro team, and a retired player’s card goes to the team he played the most seasons with.
Who gets Houston Oilers cards in an Obsidian break?
The Titans. Cards showing a franchise’s old name go to its current team, so Oilers cards go to the Titans and Washington Redskins cards go to the Commanders.
What are the case hits in 2026 Obsidian Football?
Black Color Blast and Black Stained Glass, plus ultra-rare Dual versions of each.
Who gets dual cards with players from two teams?
A random draw among the owners of those spots decides. If the card has significant value, the owners decide together: a random draw, selling and splitting, a buyout, or anything else they agree on.
When does a FireHand Obsidian break happen, and when do my cards ship?
Once every spot sells. FireHand breaks the case live on the FireHand Cards YouTube channel as soon as all 36 spots are sold, and you get an email before your break starts. Shipping is free on group breaks. Packages go out every Tuesday and Friday, and international orders ship every other Thursday.
